Amazon - Rio Roosevelt Lodge - The River of a Doubt

If you are looking for a place right in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by kilometers of undisturbed forests, fantastic Amazon Wild Life and very few people around, Rio Roosevelt is the place to go.
Rio Roosevelt Lodge is located in the Southern part of the State of Amazon, the largest state in Brazil, right by Rio Roosevelt. This area became famous in the beggining of the 20th Century when US President Theodore Roosevelt and the Brazilian Marshall Cândido Rondon went on a expedition around this area. The area still is very remote and the only way to access the lodge is by small planes.
The lodge is small with only 6 cabanas, all with A/C, private bathroom, a varanda with an inviting hammock and a wonderful view of the River of a Doubt.
Food is just great and there is a lovely bar always ready to serve you a cold drink whenever you want. The lodge staff is very friendly and professional. The lodge has very good boats and the locals know the area really well. There is a great trail system with easy access around the ldoge and its surrounds and very close to the lodge there is 30 meters high Observation Tower.
