NE Brazil - Brazilian Endemics and Rarities

Northeast Brazil -
Atlantic Rainforest, Caatinga and Cerrado - Brazilian Endemics and Rarities

The vast area of NE Brazil has a great diversity of habitats and a very diverse avifauna. There are lots of great birding sites in habitats like the moist Atlantic Rainforest, the very dry and thorny area named as Caatinga (Brazilian Semi-arid) and Cerrado (Brazilian Savanna). Northeast Brazil is home for many Brazilian endemics and every year new species are being described to science. Some of the most threatened and rarest Brazilian birds can be only found on this area.

NE Brazil is composed by 8 states and we visit 5 of them and 3 different habitats and its microhabitats. In the state of Ceará we bird in the Atlantic Rainforest in Serra do Baturité area and further south in the dry forest and in the Caatinga in Serra do Araripe area. After Ceará we explore the Caatinga in the state of Pernambuco before we visit the enormous state of Bahia. Bahia itself has all the 3 habitats visited on this tour. From Bahia we move to the state of Alagoas where we visit a very important Atlantic Rainforest fragment. The next state is Sergipe with its very nice coastal forest. Back to the state of Bahia we explore the highlands in Chapada Diamantina, the Caatinga and some really nice Atlantic Rainforest areas.
